Gabriel Rosenstock is a poet, haikuist, novelist and playwright, author/translator of over 150 books, mostly in Irish. A bilingual selection is Rogha Dánta / Selected Poems (Cló Iar-Chonnachta, 2005). Recent titles in English are a volume of poems in neo-bhakti style, Uttering Her Name (Salmon Poetry, 2009) and his spiritual and aesthetic musings on haiku, Haiku Enlightenment and the companion volume Haiku, the Gentle Art of Disappearing (2009), both from Cambridge Scholars Publishing. For his Irish versions of the poets Munir Niazi and Muhammad Iqbal, he was awarded the Tamgha-I-Khidmat medal by the President of Pakistan. He is a member of Aosdána (the Irish Academy of Arts and Letters), and he has worked in publishing, journalism and broadcasting. He is now a full-time writer and translator in Co. Dublin.
