Coming from a background of theatre, broadcasting and journalism, Robin Fry is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (London).
She is the author of four poetry collections Weather Report (Inkweed) 2002; Daymoon (HeadworX) 2005; Inside It (ESAW) 2006; and Time Traveller (Earl of Seacliff Art Workshop) 2010.
Robin won the open section of the NZ Poetry Society’s International Competition in 2008 and in 2001. She has also been placed second two years running in the Upper Hutt Montana Day Poetry Competition.
She turned to the craft of writing poetry in the last two decades of a long and interesting life, and with her acting experience she particularly enjoys sharing her work through poetry readings and open microphone sessions
Robin Fry’s poems are to be found in several of New Zealand’s literary journals and last year her poem 'A journey of giraffes' was included in Harvey McQueen's anthology of verse These I have loved: My favourite New Zealand poems.
