Janis Freegard has lived in England, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Her first solo collection, Kingdom Animalia: the Escapades of Linnaeus, will be published by Auckland University Press in May 2011. She also writes fiction and is a past winner of the BNZ Katherine Mansfield Award. She lives in Wellington.
