Yasir Shah's first novel Shrine was published in Pakistan at the age of 21 and was later adapted into an independent telefilm. His short stories have been published in various on-line journals and anthologies while his essay "Learning Americanian: Confronting US Ignorance" won the Glimpse 2003 writing award. Inspired by the works of Toni Morrison, Saadat Hassan Manto, Joyce Carol Oates, and David LaChapelle, he currently lives in Washington DC.
