Vera Radojević has translated the first two parts of Richard Berengarten’s Balkan Trilogy (The Blue Butterfly and In a Time of Drought) into Serbian, and she has recently finished the third part (Under Balkan Light). Her translation of In a Time of Drought (U vreme suše, RAD, Belgrade, 2004) was published before the original appeared in English. That version was awarded the international Morava Charter prize. Her translation of The Blue Butterfly (Plavi leptir, Plava tačka, Belgrade, 2008), received the Veliki školski čas [Great School Lesson] award in Kragujevac, and extracts from the Serbian text were performed as an open-air oratorio at Šumarice on October 21, 2008, in commemoration of the victims of the 1941 Nazi massacre there. With Richard Berengarten, Vera Radojević has also co-translated a collection of poems by Duška Vrhovac, I Wear My Shadow Inside Me (Forest Books, 1991) and poems by Vito Marković. She lives in Belgrade.
