David Kinloch was born and brought up in Glasgow. He is the author of four books of poetry including Un Tour d'Ecosse (Carcanet, 2001) and In My Father's House (Carcanet, 2005). A fifth, Finger of a Frenchman, will be published by Carcanet in 2011. A recipient of the Robert Louis Stevenson Memorial Award, he co-founded the poetry magazine Verse, ran the Glasgow Poetry Society, Vital Synz, and has established the Edwin Morgan International Poetry Competition. A teacher of French Studies for many years, he now teaches Scottish Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
