Tomás Harris is considered one of Chile's most important contemporary poets. He is the author of Zonas de peligro, El último viaje, Cipango (1992; Fondo de Cultura Económica, 1996), Los 7 náufragos, and Itaca, among other collections of poems. He received the Premio Municipal de Poesía for Cipango in 1993. His other awards include the Premio del Consejo Nacional del Libro y Lectura (1993), the Premio Pablo Neruda (1995), and the Casa de las Américas prize (1996)—for his Crónicas maravillosas. He is also the author of a short-story collection entitled Historia personal del miedo (Planeta, 1995). Harris lives and works in Santiago, Chile. |
