Tomislav Kuzmanović translates between Croatian and English. His publications include versions of two novels: The Death of the Little Match Girl (Smrt Djevojčice sa žigicama ) by Zoran Ferić; and A Castle in Romagna (Dvorac u Romagni) by Igor Štiks, co-translated with Russell Valentino. His translations of fiction, poetry and essays have appeared in various publications in the USA, Croatia and elsewhere, including: The Iowa Review, 91st Meridian, eXchanges, Poetry International Web, Relations, Quorum, Frakcija, and The New European Poetry Anthology. He earned his MFA in literary translation from the University of Iowa, and he has worked with the Festival of the European Short Story, the Croatian PEN Centre’s Literature Live Poetry Festival and the Croatian Centre for the Book. Born in Zagreb in 1977, he currently teaches literary translation at the University of Zadar.
