Juan Kruz Igerabide Sarasola is a Basque poet and novelist. He was born in Aduna in Gipuzkoa (Guipúzcoa), País Vasco, Spain, in 1956, where he still lives. His books of poetry include Mailu isila [Silent Hammer] and a bilingual Basque / Spanish volume, Hosto gorri, hosto berde / Hoja roja, hoja verde [Red Leaf, Green Leaf], both published in 2002. He has also published a book of aphorisms, Egia hezur [Truths Also Die] 2004, and a novel, Hauts bihurtu sienten [The Ashes Remain], 2007. He has worked as teacher in both primary and secondary schools, and is now a professor at the Universidad del País Vasco, where he teaches Basque Philology.
