W.N. Herbert was born in Dundee, Scotland, in 1961 and studied at
Brasenose College, Oxford. He writes poetry in both English and Scots.
Forked Tongue, his 1994 collection, was short-listed for the
T S Eliot Prize and the Saltire Society Scottish Book of the Year
Award. His most recent collections, The Big Bumper Book of Troy
and Bad Shaman Blues appeared in 2002 and 2006, respectively.
Herbert, the co-editor of the anthology Strong Words: Modern Poets
on Modern Poetry (2002), is Senior Lecturer in the School of English
Literature, Language and Linguistics at the University of Newcastle
upon Tyne. |
