Helen Lowe is an award-winning novelist, broadcaster and poet, winning an inaugural Robbie Burns Poetry Award in 2003, the Australian A2O Poetry Prize in 2007, and the Plains 96.9 FM Most Popular Podcast Award in 2010. Her first novel, Thornspell, was published by Knopf in 2008 to critical praise from Kirkus and Booklist, amongst others, and was a Storylines Children’s Literature Trust Notable Book in 2009, going on to win the Sir Julius Vogel Award for Best Novel: Young Adult.
