Maris O'Rourke, a New Zealander, has been writing poetry for almost three years. In 2009 she was the runner-up in the Auckland Sonnet competition with Auckland Coast to Coast and selected for a New Zealand Society of Authors (NZSA) mentorship in 2010 to work on her first collection. In January 2011 she has been runner up in the Robert Burns competition, Highly Commended in the International Caselberg and First in the South Island Writers National competition.
