Leslie Woodard was a member of the Dance Theater of Harlem (DTH) for ten years. Following her retirement from DTH she earned her B.A. from Columbia University and her M.A. from New York University. Her work has been published in Streetlights: Illuminating Tales of the Urban Black Experience, and Men We Cherish: African American Women Praise the Men in their Lives (anthologies), Horse of Kings, Teachers and Writers, So to Speak (magazines). Woodard received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fiction Fellowship in 2002. Her short story collection The Silver Crescent was published in fall 2006 by Gorgeous Notions Press and The Tale of the Pegasus is from that collection.She is currently the dean of Calhoun College at Yale University.
