Alejandro Tarrab, poet and essayist, was born in Mexico City in 1972. He has a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Language and Literature and a master’s in Literature from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He also has a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). He has published the books Siete Cantáridas (2001), Centauros (2001), Litane (Mexico City, 2006; Lima, 2007; Mexico City, 2009) and Degenerativa (2010), for which he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Literatura Gilberto Owen in 2009. He received grants from the program Jóvenes Creadores del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (Fonca) during the periods 2004-2005 and 2006-2007. Since 2011, he has been a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte del FONCA.
