Moira Burgess is a novelist, short story writer and literary historian, born in Campbeltown, Argyll, and now living in Glasgow. She has published two novels, The Day Before Tomorrow (1971) and A Rumour of Strangers (1987). Unpublished work includes two Glasgow novellas (one of which has the title Below).
She gained a PhD from Glasgow University in 2006 with a thesis on the supernatural and mythical elements in the work of Naomi Mitchison; a book based on the thesis, Mitchison’s Ghosts, was published in 2008. She is now working on a seven-volume edition of Mitchison’s essays and journalism, the first volume to be published being Carradale (November 2009).
