A. C. Clarke has been writing poetry for many years. She has been quite widely published, with poems appearing in a variety of magazines and competition anthologies. Her pamphlet, The Gallery on the Left, was published by Akros Press, November 2003 and her first full collection, Breathing Each Other In, was published by Blinking Eye Publishers in 2005. Her second collection, Messages of Change, was published by Oversteps Books at the end of 2008. She was the Makar for the Federation of Writers (Scotland) from 2007-2008 and was one of the poets commissioned for Hidden City 3 and 5 and for Spring Into Poetry with the Alliance Francaise in 2009. In 2009 she was also commended in the Stephen Spender Prize for poetry translation and was a runner-up in the McLellan Poetry Award. She is an active member of Scottish PEN and lives in Glasgow.
