Rooja Mohassessy was born in Iran. She has lived in Europe, Asia and the United States and has finally settled down by the foot of the Sierras. She is a candidate at the MFA program at Pacific University, Oregon, where she is working on her first manuscript. Her poems can be found in California Fire and Water: An Anthology of Poems, edited by Molly Fisk, and in journals such as The Bare Life Review, The Woven Tale Press (nominated for the Pushcart prize), Poet Lore, and San Pedro River Review.
