Birgit Linder grew up in Germany and has lived in the United States and China for many years. She teaches Comparative Literary Studies at the City University of Hong Kong, and her research interests focus mainly on concepts of madness and mental illness in Chinese and Asian cultures and literatures, cross-cultural psychologies, comparative literature (Asia, Europe), marginal writers, and comparative post-totalitarianism in literature. Besides reading and writing, she is interested in painting and photography. She has published poetry in Mad Poets Review, Clockwise Cat, and Kavya Bharati.
