Anthony Whishaw RA studied at Chelsea
School of Art from 1948 to 1952 and the Royal College of Art,
London from
1952 to 1955. In 1955 - 1956 he was awarded a Spanish
government scholarship. He has won several prizes and awards during his prolific career including
an Arts Council of Great Britain Award in 1978
and the John Moores Minor Painting Prize in 1982. He was
joint winner in the Hunting Group National Art Competition in 1986
and in 1996 won the Korn Ferry Carre Oban International
Picture of the Year. He is a member of the
London Group, the Royal West of England Academy and the Royal Academy and
has exhibited at the RA's Summer Exhibitions every year since 1972. His work
is included in private and public
collections worldwide including the Arts Council of Great Britain; The
National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; Power Art Gallery,
Sydney; Deutsche Morgan Grenfell; the European Parliament,
Strasbourg; the Tate Gallery and The National Westminster
Bank.
