Meet Samina Chaudhry, a #ScottishPakistani with a passion for writing. Samina is recipient of #ScottishBookTrust ’s 2019 #NextChapterAward. The prize is aimed at writers aged over 40 who wish to develop a specific piece of work to publication standard. Most of Samina’s spare time is spent writing short stories and she is also working on a novella. She has also had some poems anthologized in #PoetryForwardPress. RNN set up a Scottish chapter in 2018 and is producing content for its YouTube channel from Scotland. The main aim is to provide a platform to Scottish Pakistanis to talk about their achievements, challenges and aspirations. RNN Scotland also aims to promote cultural, educational and commercial ties between Scotland and Pakistan. In addition to the YouTube channels, RNN‘s content is shared on their website and Facebook page too. Scotland is home to a large and vibrant Pakistani community including a sizeable student population, many of whom maintain close links with family members in Pakistan. The community’s contribution to Scotland, culturally, economically and socially, is significant. Our reports from Scotland will raise the profile of the community in Scotland as well as in Pakistan. They will promote the achievements of Scottish Pakistanis by sharing success stories. The reports will also provide an opportunity to the people in Pakistan to learn about Scotland and how Pakistanis live and work there.
